Adorable Things Your Cat Will Do Over the Holidays

December 15, 2018

The holiday season is officially here! As your calendar fills with seasonal events, your cat may also be making some plans. In this article, a Conyers, GA vet discusses Fluffy’s holiday agenda.

Climb The Tree

Climbing the tree is one of Fluffy’s favorite holiday traditions! However, it can also be a bit dangerous. Keep your pet in mind as you put up your tree. Hang only sturdy, non-breakable items on the lower branches, things that won’t break if your cat knocks them down. Keep fragile ornaments on the top part. Tinsel and lights are also dangerous for kitties, so keep these things out of paws’ reach. Also, pick up any tinsel strands or ornament hooks that fall onto the ground. If you have a super-frisky cat, you may want to secure the tree to the wall or ceiling with fishing line to reinforce it.

Help The Humans

Cats are very thoughtful pets, and often try to help out when they can. Fluffy may lend you a helping paw as you wrap gifts and decorate your home. She may also supervise as you are cooking!

Play With A New Toy

Don’t forget to get Fluffy a present of her own! Playthings are always a great bet for kitties. You can give your furry friend a classic cat toy, like a catnip mouse or a wand toy. Or, offer her something more modern, like catnip bubbles or remote-controlled mice.

Jump In Boxes

Your kitty will pay very close attention as gifts are opened. There’s a pretty good chance that Fluffy will claim some of those empty boxes for her own!

Enjoy A Special Snack

Fluffy can definitely enjoy some yummy seasonal feasts. Offer your cute pet a can of plain tuna in water, or some cooked, unseasoned meat, fish, or poultry, without the skin, bones, or fat. Sodium-free broth is also fine. Ask your vet for more information.

Cuddle and Purr

Many people take vacation time around the holidays, so they can relax with friends and family. Spend some quality time with your beloved kitty. Let Fluffy snooze on your lap as you watch your favorite holiday movie. A purring cat is the perfect touch to a cozy holiday evening!
